Creative Endeavors Inspired by Nature
My art comes from a place that changes and evolves based on influences in my life from an encounter with nature’s environment and the immediate availability of a medium. A neck injury limits my use of the heavy Canon I used to carry on hikes and walks. The Canon is reserved for studio work, or putting on a tripod to photograph lightning in a summer monsoon at night. The iPhone has been a great field substitute that evolved into capturing images that I make into abstracts. My photo development process includes one or all programs such as Snapseed, Photoshop, plus a blending of filters and opacity using Topaz Suites. For other mediums, I enjoy using pencils to sketch on paper, watercolor, India ink pens, acrylic paints, and lately, alcohol ink. Those works range from landscapes, abstracts, and creative doodle designs. So, for my art, I create for me. If others like it, that’s a bonus.
I am the daughter of an artist, musician, dress maker, and business owner. She was ambitious, a loyal friend, and to tell her no, only made her that more determined. At my age now, I see how much we were alike. She died when I was 27. I am grateful for the way she encouraged me to not give up, don’t be afraid to try new things, and to embrace new experiences. My father was an electrical engineer who grew up on a dairy farm in rural Georgia. From my father I learned that integrity and honesty matter, and to never prejudge anyone based on their skin color. Because of my parents, I think it gave me the foundation to be open to new experiences, which ultimately came to mean being a creative is the best "job" one can have. To be a good artist, you first have to be honest with yourself.
*Now that I am free of my Board of Director’s duties at the 29 Palms Art Gallery, I am looking forward to having more free time. Stay tuned. Just closed a show at the Hi-Desert Medical Center’s Healing Arts Gallery, Joshua Tree, CA July – Sept. 2024.

Causes that matter to me: Protecting the environment, the rights of Ingenious People, MMIW, Autism Speaks. Encouraging the freedom of expression through the ARTS. "Out in the Country" is THE song for me. It sums up perfectly why I live in a quiet place close to nature.

Freelance photographic services
Excellent, well-lit photos of hanging artwork is an essential element for artists, and collectors. Websites, social media, gallery and personal catalogs of works, plus art fair applications all require good photographs. Pricing is based on number of pieces and time needed to photo, post process, and final format required (cataloged list or just digital image). Base rate for location is $500 for up 4-hours, up to 10 pieces, includes post processing.
